A press statement from Tumaini Letu says the programme known as Dzaleka Creative Skills Development Project and running for 12 months, is aimed at enhancing and developing creative abilities among the youth at Dzaleka Refugee Camp and surrounding areas.
The statement says that through the project, Tumaini Letu will train 1,350 youth in creative disciplines namely music, photography, painting and drawing, video production, sculpture, graphic design, dance and drama.
“The project will offer a series of three month creative skills development training that will be interactive and experiential. This project will also contribute to the improvement of livelihoods of the refugee youth at Dzaleka Refugee Camp by helping them monetise their talents,” reads the statement.
Tumaini Letu Founder and Director Menes la Plume real name Tresor Mpauni, said they were happy to run the programme to develop talent.
“This is for the good of uplifting talent at Dzaleka Refugee Camp and also the creative sector in the country. We have immense talent but many lack the necessary skills to monetise these talents and this is one of the areas being looked at,” Menes said.
