Tumaini Festival Returns to Dzaleka for 11th Edition This October

Dzaleka Refugee Camp will once again come alive with music, dance, and colour as the Tumaini Festival returns for its 11th edition from 30 October to 1 November 2025.

Organised by Tumaini Letu, the three-day festival will bring together performers and audiences from across Malawi and around the world in a celebration of culture, creativity, and community. A statement released by the organisation’s Program Officer, Bryce Chawiya, confirms that this year’s programme will feature a wide range of performances and exhibitions—live music, traditional dances, theatre, poetry, film screenings, and visual art—all hosted within the grounds of Dzaleka.

A dedicated children’s playground will also be part of the festivities, ensuring a space for families and young visitors to enjoy.

What began as a local cultural gathering in 2014 has grown into one of Africa’s most unique festivals, curated by refugees, hosted in a refugee camp, and open to the world. More than just entertainment, Tumaini Festival has become a platform for peacebuilding, cultural exchange, and the celebration of resilience.

“Everyone is invited,” reads the statement. “Come and witness the unifying and transformative power of the arts.”

Organisers have pegged the 2025 festival budget at K200 million.
