Refugee-led Innovation Fund is now open for applications

Applications are now open for the latest round of the Refugee-led Innovation Fund, a bold initiative by UNHCR to support refugee-led organisations (RLOs) working on real-world solutions for displaced and stateless communities.

Launched in 2022, the Fund represents a shift in approach—from aid dependency to empowerment. “This Fund is not about aid – it’s about shifting power and backing refugees as innovators and leaders,” said Hovig Etyemezian, Head of UNHCR’s Innovation Service.

The program provides more than just funding. It offers a full support package including training, mentoring, and networking opportunities, equipping RLOs with tools to grow their impact and sustainability.

Open to organisations where at least 50% of the leadership has lived experience of displacement or statelessness, the Fund is a direct investment in the creativity and leadership already thriving within refugee communities.

UNHCR is seeking bold, boundary-pushing ideas that aim to solve the challenges refugees and host communities face every day. If you’re part of an organisation led by forcibly displaced or stateless people and are driving change on the ground, this is your chance.

Applications close on 22 August.
