Tumaini Letu has completed a five-day training program for 10 girls from Dzaleka, equipping them with practical skills in fashion design, DJing, dance, and art. The training took place at Salama Africa.
Tumaini Letu’s Head of Programs, Bryce Chawiya, said the initiative aims to empower young refugees to become self-reliant through economic opportunities that build on their talents.
“It is crucial for young refugees to be empowered in various economic opportunities so they sustain themselves,” said Chawiya in an interview with Yetu FM.
He also acknowledged that legal restrictions make it difficult for refugees to access formal employment in Malawi. “The skills they gain through such training help them support themselves economically,” he added.
The 10 girls who completed the training are now able to apply their new skills within their communities.
