Dowa District Gender Officer, Edna Maseko Ndasowa, has called on stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).
Ndasowa made the appeal on Tuesday during a training session held at Dzaleka, organized by the Women Palm Tree Organization. The training brought together zone leaders and representatives from various Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) with the goal of promoting gender equality and reinforcing community efforts to end GBV.
Speaking to Yetu FM, Ndasowa emphasized that the training created an important platform for community leaders to deepen their understanding of gender-related laws and to learn practical approaches for handling GBV cases within their roles.
The sessions addressed a wide range of issues, including the different forms of GBV, family relations, and matters related to divorce.
In her remarks, Theresa Sangwa, Chief Executive Officer of Women Palm Tree Organization, commended the Dowa Gender Office for its ongoing work in tackling GBV. She also reaffirmed her organization’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at ending gender-based violence in Dzaleka.
Yetu FM has established that the Women Palm Tree Organization is currently implementing a GBV project in Dzaleka with financial backing from UNHCR.
