Home Storytellers To Launch Virtual Portal In Dzaleka As Part Of "We Name Ourselves" Campaign

HOME Storytellers, the creators of the film We Name Ourselves, have announced to launch a virtual portal in Dzaleka. In partnership with Shared Studios and the Ubuntu Nation Project, and supported by The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), this immersive space will creates a direct link between the camp and the world.

The initiative is an extension of the film’s mission to show that connection can become a bridge to opportunities. The portal connects Dzaleka with a global network of spaces in cities such as Berlin, Kigali, and New York, facilitating real-time, life-size conversations across continents.

Empowerment and Employment The facility will be curated and run entirely by local artists and facilitators. This model creates dignified employment while providing a stage for cultural exchange. Programming will include poetry exchanges, dialogues, and collaborative workshops.

Breaking the Cycle of Isolation In a location too often defined by isolation, the virtual portal aims to ensure that voices from Dzaleka are not only heard but engaged with as equals. The project opens new opportunities for income, visibility, and solidarity by creating a dedicated space for real human connection.
