Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Malawi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dzaleka Water Users Association (WUA), marking a significant step toward strengthening community‑led water management in Dzaleka.
The signing ceremony, held yesterday, formalised a partnership aimed at improving the sustainability and effectiveness of water services. The agreement reinforces WHH’s commitment to supporting locally managed WASH systems and empowering community institutions to take a leading role in service delivery.
As part of the partnership, WHH handed over office equipment and tools to enhance the WUA’s capacity to manage water services and promote hygiene. The items include laptop computers, a printer, office furniture, bicycles, and hygiene promotion and sanitation tools.
WHH stated that the support is intended to build local capacity and ensure that water management and hygiene promotion efforts remain sustainable. The organisation emphasised that community ownership is essential for long‑term resilience and effective WASH systems in Dzaleka.
The MoU represents a continued effort by WHH to work closely with communities and partners in strengthening locally driven approaches to water access and sanitation.
