When Dzaleka Online started, the idea was simple — create a space where stories from Dzaleka could be shared and seen more widely.
Over time, it grew into a platform covering news, community updates, videos, jobs, events, photos, and everyday stories from the camp and wider refugee community.
The Dzaleka Online mobile app is launching soon on iPhone, with Android coming later.
The goal is not to change what already exists, but to make it easier to access in one place. Everything currently on the platform — news, videos, services, events, and community updates — will now be available in a simple mobile app.
A few things guided the development of the app.
Many users in and around Dzaleka experience unstable internet, so offline reading has been included. Saved stories remain available even without a connection. The app also supports notifications, widgets, and quick actions to help users stay updated with important information.
This is still Dzaleka Online — just structured for mobile use, faster to access, and designed for everyday reading.
The app reflects the wider growth of the platform, from a website into a broader digital space for community storytelling and information sharing.
It also continues the original purpose: improving visibility of stories from Dzaleka and making them easier to access directly through digital platforms.
More updates, including the iPhone release date, and later Android availability, will be shared soon.
