The Department of Refugees and police have launched a search for five Ethiopian nationals who authorities say are wanted in connection with alleged threats against people in Dzaleka Refugee Camp and surrounding communities.
Speaking to Yetu Community Radio, Chief Security Officer Serial Ghambi identified the five as Tsaga Butamo, Trakag Yohanes John Hossana Faris, Sammy Taedssa Mitiku Urkato, Mohamed Ahamed and Yisak Tagesa.
Ghambi alleged that the five had previously been deported from Malawi but later returned to the country.
He further alleged that, following their return, they began harassing and threatening people whom they believed had played a role in their earlier deportation.
Authorities have appealed to anyone with information about their whereabouts to report to the Department of Refugees or the nearest police station.
Ghambi also warned against harbouring or assisting the individuals, saying those found doing so could face action from the authorities.
The allegations against the five individuals have not been reported as having been determined by a court.
