Partners in Child, Youth and Women Development (PCYWD) has begun a project aimed at creating safe spaces for women affected by gender-based violence in Dzaleka Refugee Camp and surrounding communities.
The organisation introduced the project, titled “Creation of Safe Spaces through Community Healing Dialogues,” during an inception and sensitisation meeting.
Speaking to Yetu Community Radio, PCYWD Director Phelile Malongo said the project will provide spaces where women can speak about challenges they are facing and receive support aimed at improving their well-being.
Malongo said the initiative will focus particularly on women who have experienced different forms of gender-based violence, giving them opportunities to discuss their experiences and develop ways of coping with the challenges they face.
The project is being implemented in collaboration with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi, Jericho Relief and Development, Shining Gospel Platform and Thimlera Stream.
It runs from June to November 2026.
